“Don’t make the mistake embracing abortion extremism; pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion.”
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA (06-22-19) —As Democratic Presidential hopefulsvisited the University of South Carolina campus for a Planned Parenthood Candidate event, Students for Life of America rallied out front with the Pro-Life Generation to protest the abortion extremism of the party and its aspiring leadership. The event was headed by Students for Life of America Eastern Regional Director Michele Hendrickson, who was there to send a message to those contending for Planned Parenthood’s support: “Americans do not want Planned Parenthood’s vision for our country. A poll this year from Students for Life of America found that only 7 percent of Millennials can stomach the abortion extremism of the Democratic Party, whose platform supports abortion through all 9 months, for any reason at all, and taxpayer funded. Planned Parenthood’s so-called healthcare event ignores the obvious – Pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion.”
The event included students and pro-life leaders alike, speaking up for the needs of both mothers and pre-born children. In addition toHendrickson, speakers included Selene Cerankosky, a Student Leader at Robert Morris University; John Mark Porter, a student leader with the University of South Carolina Advocates for Life; Dr. Christina Jeffrey with Eagle Forum of South Carolina; Mark Baumgartner with 40 Days for Life; South Carolina State Senator Richard Cash; Pastor Tommy Quick; Michelle Shearin, a speaker familiar with abortion’s realities; and Bernard Corbett, a South Carolina resident with Democrats for Life of America.
During her remarks today, Hendrickson noted the following:
“To the Democratic candidates at Planned Parenthood’s event today our message for them is that abortion is NOT healthcare
“The abortion lobby can use all the euphemisms they want, but the American people and this Pro-Life Generation will not be fooled. Young people know the truth:Abortion takes the life of an innocent human being.
· No procedure that rips a child away from her mother should be considered healthcare.
· No procedure that tears off arms and legs and crushes bones to end life should ever be considered anything other than extreme violence.
“And that’s the reality of Planned Parenthood’s position on abortion: It’s radical. It’s extreme.
“For any Democratic candidate paying attention to recent polling, and the voices of the American people, I hope – I pray – they will wake up.
“As this election cycle kicks off… I’ve noticed that most people, who repeat Planned Parenthood’s talking points, haven’t actually been to one before. The president of Planned Parenthood Leana Wen likes to say 1 in 5 women will visit a Planned Parenthood, but even if that were true – you know what that tells me? Four out of 5 women knew better.
“Make no mistake, the issue of abortion will be a deciding factor in the next election, and so far, 20 Democratic candidates have put themselves on a path of failure unless they cut their ties and devotion to the abortion industry. It may cost them a few million in campaign dollars but will win them back the attention of voters and maybe even their conscience.”
