Cemetery of the Innocents Attacked At Robert Morris University

On Saturday, October 26th, SFL of Robert Morris University set up 911 pink crosses, signifying the number of babies killed each day by Planned Parenthood. In fewer than 12 hours, vandals destroyed several of the crosses, according to Students for Life leader Selene Cerankosky. She contacted campus police and they said there is nothing they can do because there is not a camera in the area, but they are considering ways to fix this problem in the future. 

This is not the first time the group has faced threats on campus; before hosting Ryan Bomberger last year, the group had numerous flyers torn, with little response from the school.  Selene said at the time, “I’m really getting sick and tired of this nonsense. They have no right to vandalize my flyers- they have the required Student Life stamp of approval to not be torn down. If people are so weak and close-minded that a mere paper sporting a different opinion makes them turn destructive- they shouldn’t be in college.” Before Kristan Hawkins’ speech in Fall 2018, flyers were also torn down. 

Vandalism continues to be an issue on high school and college campuses. Since pro-choicers support the violence of abortion, it’s not a leap to see how they believe violence is also a ‘solution’ to views with which they don’t agree. 

Liana Hollendonner, the Regional Coordinator for Pennsylvania for Students for Life, criticized the vandalism, saying, “Pro-life students deserve the same First Amendment protections as all other students on campus. We regularly reach out on campus to engage in peaceful dialogue, so it is very disappointing to see students try to silence our speech.” 

Students for Life has been at the forefront of fighting for free-speech rights on campus.  In March, 2019, Students for Life leader Ellie Wittman spoke at a White House ceremony in support of an executive order on free-speech. You can watch that speech below:
