Pro-Life Man Sued by Abortion Groups for Calling Abortion Murder

Mark Lee Dickson, a pro-life activist in Texas, is being sued by three pro-abortion organizations for referring to abortion groups as “criminal organizations” and abortion as “murder.” Dickson is the director of Right to Life East Texas, an organization that has worked to declare various cities and towns in Texas as sanctuaries for the pre-born. The same abortion groups that are now suing him – the Lilith Fund, the Afiya Center, and the Texas Equal Access Fund – had previously worked with the ACLU of Texas and ACLU National to sue cities for banning abortion within their jurisdiction. The High Stakes of the Virginia Elections

As the November election date approaches, political and pro-life campus groups are busy canvasing, phone calling, and helping students register to vote in the upcoming election this November. Even celebrities know the stakes are high, as pro-abortion figures like Alec Baldwin and George Soros have been putting some effort into backing Democrats.

Along with Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Jersey, Virginia is one of few states holding state legislators elections this November and the state’s pro-life majority is precariously narrow. The GOP is seeking to preserve and extend its one-seat majority in the senate and three-seat majority in the House of Delegates.

However narrow, a pro-life majority is crucial if the party wants to block the passing of anti-life legislation sponsored most famously by delegate Kathy Tran.

Tran’s Bill, VA HB2491, eliminates many current restrictions on second and third trimester abortions in the state of Virginia. The new law would allow second trimester abortions to be committed at facilities which are not classified as hospitals and without the patient first witnessing an ultrasound. Kathy Tran’s claim to fame was that, during the reading of this bill, she explained how it allowed abortion at 40 weeks while the mother is in labor.

As Virginia law stands now, third-trimester abortions are allowed only when two additional physicians can confirm that abortion is “medically necessary” to prevent “substantial or irremedial” damage to the woman’s mental or physical health (something the pro-life movement takes issue with – read more here). Tran’s legislation deletes the words “substantial or irremedial” and allows for third-trimester abortions at the recommendation of just one physician. As noted, with no restrictions on abortion within the third trimester, the new bill would allow abortions until birth.
